Alteration costs & advice
I would usually advise that wedding-dress alterations are made about 4 weeks before the big day but you can visit our shop earlier for a price quote & then you can reserve a suitable/nearer to the big date -fitting time by paying a £50 booking deposit.
The booking deposit will be refunded against your alteration costs.
Advice on Pre wedding weight loss or weight gain..
We can reserve your sewing time for a period closer to your wedding date to allow you to reach your target weight before we begin the work.
If you lose more weight or gain weight after we have started your alteration, don't worry as we never cut out the fabric when we take your dress in and if you gain weight then we can normally think of a solution to make your dress fit.
The final fitting would normally be in the last few weeks before the wedding as to ensure a perfect fit.
I have altered a lot of wedding dresses in my life and there is very little that I can't do. If you are unsure whether your dress can be altered the way you would like it to be altered then I am happy to offer advice and help at a free fitting appointment.
2 week Bridal alterations turnaround.
Bridal fittings are arranged out of hours so that your appointment isn't interrupted and is completely private. Monday/Anytime. After 3pm Tuesday/Wednesday & Friday or by Appointment on Saturday.
I can also travel to your home if you would prefer. There is a charge of £20 per call out to cover travel costs and time.
If you live more than 20+ miles away - Travel costs and time will be more.
Typical wedding dress alterations might cost £50 -£200 depending on what needs to be done and how your dress is made.
- Hems from £30 per layer & Hems with lace edging to unpick and move up are £70
- Take-in/out at bust/waist/hip from £50 more if lace or beading has to be moved.
- Bustle hook-up for train £15
- Create lace-up back on dress or bodice from £80
- Add zip from £50
